Production Notes:
 

The blade was completely hollow ground by hand. The side bevels were ground with a slightly larger diameter than on the original, making them a little more robust, without adding too much wieght to the overall piece.

The assembly of the sword was based on historical methods, where the guard was wedged into place and the pommel was wedged and hot-peened in place. This leads to a construction method that is strong and durable, where the various components are attatched to the blade itself, rather than relying on factors, such as with a compression fit hilt. This also lead for the grip and its leather covering to be applied last.

While this particular piece was a bit of a departure from the normal "fantasy" type work I normally do, I really had fun working on it. I doubt this will be the last of my historical ventures.
