Production

This piece is another departure from our more regular "fantasy" work. The top three photos are some production shots I took during the construction. I was really happy to get a good close up shot of the detail of the bronze disk of the pommel. The bottom photos are the finished production shots of the Morehead Sword. The double fullered blade was ground by hand. Assembly of the guard and pommel was the same as the Wallace-Records Xa1. The guard was wedged into place and the pommel was wedged and hot-peened in place. This leads to a construction method that is strong and durable, where the various components are attached to the blade itself. This also leads the grip and its leather covering to be applied last. We have a unique opportunity with this piece. Even though this is a custom piece, we have worked out an arrangement where we can offer a limited production run of this sword. Order process for the Morehead Sword is the same as our other pieces.Mark Grzybowski |
