The CS Sword was one of those projects that takes a lot of back and forth with the customer to get all of the details worked out. And it was great for all involved as he had a very specific idea in mind in what the final piece should look like. The overall design concept the customer was looking for was inspired by a movie which is always a delicate line to walk in terms of copyright. Production-wise this piece used lost wax casting for the guard. Historical accuracy was not the customer’s primary concern. We were able to help manage the cost by casting the guard in stainless steel rather the steel. This piece is also fun as it has an optional blade that can screw into the pommel. When the additional blade is not added a thin metal plate takes its place. Great collaboration, great patience, a great challenge for all evolved [involved] that I think in the end turned out perfectly and was worth the wait. Matt Grzybowski |
